We are located in Belgium, at the European intersection of sea, air and land trade routes, midway between the ports of Rotterdam and Antwerp. We supply our superior berries, exotics, special vegetables and an assortment of specialties to shop owners, supermarket chains, hotels, caterers and other large consumers throughout Europe.

For global imports, local distribution and pan-European exports, location is everything. Meer, Belgium, offers the perfect hub: close to the ports of Antwerp and Rotterdam, the manufacturing area of Hoogstraten, as well as major air and land routes.

Our in-house logistics department manages a network of international carriers. Transporters who have vehicles that meet the high demands of perishables. With our locations close to the source and since every spot in Europe can be reached within 48 hours, we are quick in delivery, resulting in better quality.

Our warehouse in Meer offers 11,500 m² of storage space with temperature zones from 1°C to 10°C, tailored to each product. Innovation and automation are essential to our success, but it is our dedicated employees who really make the difference.

Special Fruit Spain
Meer in Belgium is the ideal location for most European buyers. But not everything can be done from there alone. Southern Europe is an important source of both application and production centers. Therefore, since 2004, Special Fruit has established a subsidiary in Huelva, Spain, in the middle of one of Europe’s most important centers for “red fruit” production. It currently employs 20 permanent employees, supplemented seasonally

Special Fruit works with an experienced team in fresh produce – mainly for asparagus and avocados – from Peru.
Through this local presence, we build long-term relationships with growers and exporters to have the most direct line to good quality and sustainable production.

PACKAGING
Packaging flexibility
Packaging is a matter of customisation. Just tell us your preferences and we will take care of it. Large or small, practical or luxurious, conventional or extraordinary: we are happy to discuss the almost endless possibilities with you.
Packaging and dispatch
Packaging, protection and labeling of shipments are performed real-time in response to orders as they come in. Certain produce, such as mangos, needs and receives extra care at this stage. If necessary, they are individually wrapped and/or subjected to a special scan to determine their ripeness and internal quality. (Only Maf Roda machines can do this and there are just a few of them in Europe).
Timing is of the essence. Just-in-time preparation for line hauls is vital to customer satisfaction, as is the ability to adapt in mid-process to changing requirements, re-routing or external circumstances. One of the skills for which Special Fruit is best known is the ability to combine pre-arranged logistic precision with extreme flexibility when needed.
