COMPANY - INTRODUCTION

FRUTAS PATRICIA PILAR S.A. IS A FAMILY BUSINESS THAT BELONGS TO THE SECOND GENERATION OF AGRICULTURAL BUSINESSMEN; ENTERING THE MARKET APPROXIMATELY 30 YEARS AGO AND STARTING ITS ACTIVITIES IN LOURINHÃ-PORTUGAL.

Shortly after settling in Portugal, they founded the company Frutas Patricia Pilar, a 100% Portuguese founded company, created with the aim of supplying national and international markets with a main focus on the national market.

Strategic Lines

The company grew and developed traditional commerce but then based on the needs of the market, redefined a new business model focused on three strategic lines:

PRODUCTION

In agricultural production we have our own so, we focus on strategic planning, innovation, food safety and the quality, taste and freshness of our products.

DISTRIBUTION

We have a great operational and logistical capacity. We inaugurated our new facilities in 2018 with more than 20,000 m2 and in 2020 we increased our cold room and packaging capacity to 45,000 m2. The Patricia Pilar Group belongs to a logistics company with its own fleet and we maintain cooperation agreements with renowned European logistics operators to guarantee efficiency and effectiveness in all our deliveries. We work 24/7 to meet the needs of our customers.

MARKETING

We expand our activity in most of the distribution channels, we have invested in the growth, training and specialization of our work teams in order to understand and meet the specific needs of the different sectors. We currently export more than 40% of our production, marketing our products at an industrial level, in the HORECA channels, to intermediaries, wholesalers and modern distribution, but always focus on not losing the strong link with traditional trade.

QUALITY – CERTIFICATES

FRUTAS PATRICIA PILAR S.A. IS A FAMILY BUSINESS THAT BELONGS TO THE SECOND GENERATION OF AGRICULTURAL BUSINESSMEN; ENTERING THE MARKET APPROXIMATELY 30 YEARS AGO AND STARTING ITS ACTIVITIES IN LOURINHÃ-PORTUGAL.

CERTIFICATES

In the quality department of Frutas Patrícia Pilar, we continuously work on the implementation of the various national and international standards, which aim to maintain and guarantee the food safety of the final consumer.

From the selection process of the supplier, through the specialized technical supervision of the crops in the field, guaranteeing the best conservation of the products in our headquarters, managing to select the best products that reach them daily, with the best freshness and quality.

FOOD SAFETY

At the level of food safety, we are increasingly focused on guaranteeing the internal safety and well-being of our employees, we have the implementation of the ISO 45001 standard, which is the guarantee that all safety processes are being implemented in all sectors and departments of the company.

NORMA IFS

IFS Food is important for all food producers and manufacturers, but especially for those who produce so-called “Own Brands”, as this standard contains many requirements related to the conformity of specifications. In this way, it supports the production and marketing efforts with safety and quality of the corresponding brands.

IFS Food is a standard aligned with all versions of the GFSI guide documents since 2002. The last version of the standard was in November 2017, including food fraud requirements (risk validation, control measures and monitoring of them) on the recommendation of the GFSI Guide.

The IFS Food standard voluntarily goes beyond the requirements recommended by the GFSI Guide, integrating quality criteria that guarantee the conformity of the products and continuous improvements, either in their own products or in the labels of the “own brand”.

GFSI PROCESS

Global Food Safety Initiative – GFSI defines food defense as the process to ensure the safety of food, food ingredients and packaging from any intentional malicious attacks, including ideologically motivated attacks, leading to contamination of food or unsafe products for consumption.

That is why the motivation or root of the cause that is treated in the food defense is the intention to cause harm to consumers or companies. This context differs from the motivation proven with evidence in food fraud, where the intention is related to economic profit. And that also differs food safety, in which there is no intention to cause damage, unless it is a proven accidental contamination.

NORMA BRC

BRC (British Retail Consortium) is a global standard for food safety, which aims to ensure the food safety of products and packaging, from suppliers to retailers.

The BRC certificate is recognized by the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI), a program that aims to harmonize international food safety standards being recognized by the most important retailers and producers in the food field in the world. Being recognized by the GFSI, the BRC can be used as a great global reference to respond to the demands of these organizations through a single internationally recognized food safety management system.

G.A.P GLOBAL CHAIN OF CUSTODY (CoC)

Parallel to these two quality systems, we are working on the global G.A.P. chain of custody (coc) certification, which transparently manages all the information about a particular fruit and vegetable product, segregating all the products that have the Global G.A.P. certification.

This type of certification covers primary production, ensuring the practice of sustainable agriculture. Global G.A.P is based on 3 pillars: food security, good agricultural practices and preservation of fauna and flora.

All primary production companies in the group are certified with GlobalG.A.P and GRASP. Lloretrans is in the process of energy certification.

In the field of primary production, social responsibilities are increasingly strict, resulting in a new GRASP certification, a standard that guarantees the rights of all employees.
