machland gmbh was founded in the year 1970 and is the highest volume producer of pickled vegetables in Austria (brand, private label, contract productions) with its company headquarters right in the middle of Machland (Naarn, Upper Austria). machland produces items in the product groups of pickles – savouries – salads – fruit – sauerkraut.

The machland grounds comprise a surface area of approximately 45,000 m², of which 36,000 m² is built environment.
Our staff consists of approximately 120 employees, and during season staff increases to approx. 150 employees.
Storage capacity is comprised of approximately 32,000 pallets.
We process a total of approximately 18,000 tons of raw materials, including among other things approx. 5,000 tons of sauerkraut, approx. 2,000 tons of cucumbers, 4,000 tons of apples (mainly golden delicious), 1,000 tons of red cabbage, 800 tons of hot peppers and 1.000 tons of sweetcorn.
We have a production capacity of:

- 270.000 squeeze pouches per day
- 130.000 kraut – pouches per day

product delevopment
We want to recognize and fulfil consumer wishes early on, by responding quickly to the needs of the market.
Thus at machland product development is a theme that is close to our hearts. We perform ongoing consumer tastings, on the basis of which we can constantly develop our recipes to meet the taste of the general population.
Moreover we are constantly striving to fulfil the desire for clean -labelling (free of taste enhancers, dyes, etc.), and we are constantly developing our recipes in this area.
machland is particularly in the forefront in that regard, because as producers of private brands we have many years of experience in the entire development of specific customer products, and thus can ideally engage with customer needs.We develop products to customer specifications, from the area of pickled preserves to fruit mixtures.
We would especially like to highlight our product developments in recent times. Especially in focus are apples and fruits. For example there are fruit mixtures with an applesauce base, such as applesauce with strawberry and banana puree. But we also develop other mixtures without applesauce.

machland is the highest volume producer of pickled vegetables in Austria. Apart from the machland brand, private brands are also produced in our Naarn factory.
As is evident within the product development section, machland is a producer of private brands. In this respect we can offer our long experience in the entire development of customized products, starting with the design, then product development, and finally production.
We can offer private brands in all our product groups:

co-packing
The highest quality fruit and vegetable purees are manufactured in our factory in Naarn, filled in a convenient form as well as at organic quality.
As co -packer or contract producer machland takes over the filling of squeeze pouches. machland was the first company in Austria to bring squeeze pouches to the market (for more, see experience).
Squeeze pouches are trendy soft packages. Internationally more and more desserts and drinks are being offered in flexible soft packages instead of in cups or bottles. This practical take-away packaging has the following advantages:

Squeeze Pouches come:
as a cheer pack and doypack (stand-up pouches),
in different sizes (70ml, 90ml, etc.),

with choke-proof caps (anti-swallow cup).
We can fill the squeeze pouches with a wide range of products, such as for example:

Apart from machland’s “FLIP -the apple energy kick”, there were almost no comparable products in the food retail industry.
In the following years the item was also tested as a fruit dessert in the fast food sector.
machland’s Austrian as well as international sales are continuously increasing in this area.
machland produces a variety of different articles, including for start-up projects and initiative programmes.
In Austria machland serves as a technological leader with regard to squeeze pouches.
Currently available market figures indicate a significantly growing consumer interest in fruit preparations in squeeze pouches.
At present for this area machland provides a range of conventional clean label as well as organic formulations (including from purely domestic raw materials).

As one of the first Austrian companies to do so, in December 2004 we achieved certification by IFS (International Food Standard) and passed the test with the grade “high level “, the highest level.
machland gmbh is also certified for processing fruit and vegetables of organic quality. The objective of the certificate is to guarantee the ever increasing demands with regard to safety in handling food, and to thereby ensure that our customer’s receive the highest degree of safety along with consistent and reliable quality.
